Halloween in Vegas

I have three kids and finding things to do with them can often be a challenge. Here are some of the fun Halloween events in town that you may want to participate in this weekend.I have separated it into two categories: Free Stuff & Paid Events.

Paid Events
  1. Mckee Ranch - "The Pumpkin Patch hours are: mon.-fri. 4:00-8:00, sat.& sun. 2:00-8:00. The $20 donation, gets your whole family into the Ranch, for lots of fun, play & run time, climb the "haystack pyramid", free hayrides, you. Can bring carrots, crackers etc. To feed our many friendly farm animals, the best photo opportunities in town! And your choice of any 1 pumpkin. The donations allow the ranch to adopt & care for all of the abandoned & unwanted animals that have come to the Ranch to live & thrive. It also keeps the ranch open "free" the other 11 months of the year to everyone who wants to visit.   2. Bonnie Screams: Every year, Bonnie Springs at Red Rock Canyon gets spooky with Bonnie Screams. Travel the Trail of Doom, Steven Best’s nightly magic show, a saloon for guests ages 21 and older and the BBQ Pit.
  3. Third Annual “OktoberFrightFest” at Fremont Street Experience: "Fremont Street Experience is hosting the third annual OktoberFrightFest Oct. 3 - 31, the ultimate festival that combines Oktoberfest and Halloween for a month-long street party. The spook-tacular nightly fun and fantasy kicks off Monday, Oct. 3 and continues throughout “Oktober,” ending on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31. Fremont Street Experience will once again transform itself into the ultimate adult playground with Oktoberfest and Halloween festivities, including Viva Vision light and sound shows themed to “Time Warp” and “Monster Mash,” outdoor bars featuring beer and drink specials, the Second Annual Fall Beer Festival at Golden Nugget and three free Halloween-themed stage shows."
  4. Haunted Reef: "Shark Reef Aquarium will eerily transform into Haunted Reef on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Costumed children 12 and under will receive complimentary access and sugary sweets.

    Fearsome predators including sharks and a rare Komodo dragon with dagger-like teeth and piercing razor-sharp claws will lurk in exhibits, terrorizing spectators.

    Rattling chains, creaking doors and haunting music will replace the normally soothing sounds of the ocean and the jungle. As visitors walk through Haunted Reef's dark and spooky tunnels, they will pass ghostly decorations and jack-o-lanterns lining the walls."

  5. The Haunted Harvest at Springs Preserve: "Spooktacular fun for all ages awaits those who dare enter the Spring Preserve's annual Haunted Harvest.

    The family-friendly event features a haunted house, trick or treat stations, carnival games, live entertainment and much more spooktacular fun, including the winning entries in our annual, community-wide Scavenger Scarecrow Contest.

    Haunted Hayrides touring our Trails will also will be available for an additional fee, and the Springs Cafe will stay open late to offer a special menu of spooky treats.

    Beginning at 4 p.m. on Oct. 31, Sunny 106.5 will bring its annual Safe Street trick-or-treating event to the Haunted Harvest. The Preserve will close for general admission at 3 p.m. that day."

  6. Fall Harvest Festival at The Farm: The Fall Harvest Festival at The Farm has music, a maze, pony rides, hayrides, children's rides, animals, a pumpkin patch, face painting and a concession stand. The festival is open Oct. 28-31. Admission is free but the activities, food, and pumpkis do cost money, so bring cash with you.
  7. "Booling" Lanes at Santa Fe Bowling Center: "Families can enjoy "Booling" Lanes at Santa Fe Bowling Center. Children ages 12 and younger are encouraged to show up in costume (masks and face paint that obstruct recognition are not permitted in the casino area) for games and Halloween candy handed out by bowlers. A costume contest with prizes will be held at 7 p.m. Unlimited bowling is $8 per person for the duration of the event, and there is no charge to trick-or-treat and participate in the costume contest."
  8. Titanic Haunted Tours: "Enjoy free Haunted Tours nightly with your paid admission and find out for yourself if the Titanic ghost stories are true. Tours begin at 8 pm on October 23,24,25 and at 5 pm on October 30 & 31."
  9. Stu Miller's Pumpkin Patches - These are those carnivals that you see in parking lots around town. "Our pumpkin lots are designed to be a fun family experience. Each of our lots has a bungee jump, mechanical rides, games, petting zoo, a giant inflatable slide and other inflatables."
Free Stuff
  1. Trick-or-Treat on Water Street: Saturday from 12-3. Children of all ages can wear their costumes and trick or treat at the stores. Activities also will be held in Henderson Events Plaza, 200 Water St., including entertainment by Kid Fiddlers, a farmers market, and vendor booths. The first 500 children will recieve free pumpkins and face painting.
  2. Nevada Day and Halloween party at the Old Mormon Fort - "Enjoy a celebration of Nevada Day and Halloween all in one at the Old Mormon Fort. Events include games, raffles and a pumpkin decorating contest. There will be candy, activities and prizes for all the kids who are welcome to come into the park dressed in costume."
  3. Halloween at The Village Lake Las Vegas: "The Village Lake Las Vegas hosts a Halloween festival featuring pony rides, a bouncy house, candy and games. There will be safe trick-or-treating throughout The Village, where kids can go from shop to shop for treats."
  4. GhostWalk and Carnival of Horrors at The District: "Monday, October 31, 5:00pm - 8:00pm
    Main Street and The Green. Join us for spooky Halloween fun, as The District presents TWO ghoulish trick-or-treating events! GhostWalk on Main Street will delight kids of all ages, while the old run down Carnival of Horrors at The Green provides Halloween thrills for the slightly older kids. Lots of candy and Halloween fun. Presented by MIX 94.1 FM. "
  5. Town Scary: "Trick-or-Treat through the streets of Town Square during Town SCARY Las Vegas. The retailers and restaurants of Town Square Las Vegas will be passing out candy from 4pm-8pm and there will be games and activities for kids to enjoy throughout the shopping center. A list of events and activities will be posted closer to the event."
  6. Batty Buddy Craft at Lakeshore - This Saturday, make a fun bat Halloween craft for free from 11 to 3.
  7. Bass Pro Shops has some fun Halloween themed events. Get a FREE photo download of you with the Great Pumpkin and free Peanuts themed coloring sheets! Events will be held from October 22 – 31 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Trick or Treating on October 22 & 29 from 4-8 pm. Free samples Marshmallow Roast and Apple Dessert October 23, 24, 30, and 31. October 29, 4-6 pm – Peanuts Trick or Treat Bag. October 29, 6-7 pm – Costume Parade October 30, 2-4 pm – Pumpkin Birdhouse. October 31, 2-4 pm – Pumpkin Birdhouse
